2026 Wildfire Mitigation & Slash Drop-off Program
Proactive vegetation management is one of the most effective measures property owners can take to reduce wildfire risk and improve defensible space. Recent wildfire mitigation assessments and regional fire outlook reports continue to emphasize the importance of reducing fuel loads around structures and within residential areas.
Pursuant to Section 7.4 – Maintenance of Property in the HOC General Declarations, all properties are required to be maintained in a clean, safe, and well-managed condition.
Property Surveys – Beginning April 6, 2026
HOC staff will begin conducting wildfire risk surveys throughout the community starting the week of April 6. These inspections will identify areas where fuel loads such as dead or diseased trees, excessive brush, or overgrown vegetation pose an elevated wildfire risk for your home and community at large.
Following the inspections, the HOC will contact property owners directly with specific mitigation recommendations and, where necessary, request the removal of identified hazards.
In addition to owner efforts, the HOC is actively planning to reduce wildfire risk around critical infrastructure this summer. Because community wildfire mitigation work has been limited in past decades, there is a significant amount of material to address. As a result, the HOC is implementing a multi-year, ongoing approach to ensure this work is addressed responsibly, effectively, and within budgetary constraints. With the first wildfire of the season already occurring on March 31, and drought conditions anticipated, these efforts are more important than ever to help protect our neighborhood.
Slash Drop-Off Program
To support community-wide mitigation efforts and reduce disposal costs, the HOC has established a temporary slash and vegetation drop-off site for use by property owners and their contractors. This program is intended to make mitigation work more efficient and cost-effective by eliminating the need for off-site hauling.
