Trail Improvements Underway on Breckenridge (aka Penelope's) Trail

San Miguel County, the Aldasoro Ranch Homeowners Company, and the Telluride Mountain Club are partnering on an exciting trail improvement project aimed at upgrading the Breckenridge Trail and creating a new loop on Aldasoro Ranch open space.

Prompted by trail erosion from last summer’s heavy rains and the discovery of a segment crossing private property, the collaboration will reroute and reinforce the trail for long-term sustainability and public access. The project will improve drainage, reduce erosion, and enhance the user experience for hikers and bikers alike.

Construction begins the week of August 4 and is expected to last about three weeks. Trail users are asked to avoid the area during this time for safety. You can read the press release in it's entirety HERE, or read the Article.

HOC Board Approves Two Trail Connections in the HOC Open Space

In recent meetings this summer, the HOC Board of Directors have been discussing ways to better connect the Aldasoro Ranch community to existing trails. During the meeting on July 22, 2025, the Board approved construction of two new trails. The first trail will connect from Basque Blvd. over to the existing Breckenridge (Penelope) trail. The second will connect from Aguirre Road to the existing Aldasoro Trail, both of which are located in HOC open space. Construction planning is underway with hopes the new connections will be completed in 2025.
